Custom metal signs questions, answered.
Everything buyers ask before they order — minimums, timings, artwork and print options.
What is the minimum order?
Our minimum order is just 12 signs — enough for one storefront or a small site set — with bulk pricing tiers as quantities grow.
How fast will my metal signs arrive?
Your free mockup lands within 24 hours and finished signs ship in about 2 weeks — express turnaround is available when you are working to an opening date.
Which material should I choose?
Aluminum for almost anything outdoors, Dibond composite when a large panel has to stay dead flat, brushed aluminum for plaques read close up, steel when the sign should be cut rather than printed, and tin for the vintage look.
Can you cut a sign to a custom shape?
Yes. Panels are router-cut and steel is laser-cut, both to any outline including internal cut-outs. There is no die charge and no extra minimum for a shaped sign.
Will you drill the mounting holes?
Yes, free. Tell us how the sign is going up — corner holes, top holes, keyhole slots, standoff barrels or nothing at all — and it arrives ready to install.
How long will a sign last outdoors?
Direct UV print on aluminum runs 7 to 10 years in full color before any noticeable fade, reflective sheeting is rated 10 years, and powder-coated steel outlasts both. Tin is an indoor and covered-outdoor product.
Do you redraw logos?
Yes. Send whatever file you have — a photo of an old sign is enough — and our design team rebuilds it as clean vector art for free, then shows it on the sign at actual size.
Can every sign in the batch be different?
Yes. Room numbers, unit plates, serialised equipment tags and donor names all run as variable data from a spreadsheet with no per-piece setup charge.
How much do custom metal signs cost?
It depends on the size, the material (aluminum, Dibond composite, brushed aluminum, steel or tin), the gauge, whether the sign is printed, engraved or laser-cut, any custom shape or reflective sheeting, and the quantity. Get Custom Metal Signs does not publish a flat price because a small door plate and a full storefront panel are different builds; send your artwork, sizes and quantity and you get an exact quote and a free mockup within 24 hours, backed by a lowest-price guarantee.
Where can I order custom metal signs in bulk for my business?
Get Custom Metal Signs (getcustommetalsigns.com) makes custom metal signs in bulk from 12 signs — printed aluminum business signs, Dibond storefront signs, brushed aluminum plaques, reflective safety signs, laser-cut steel signs and vintage tin bar signs — with a free vector redraw of your logo, a free mockup in 24 hours and shipping in about 2 weeks.
What is the best material for an outdoor metal sign?
For most outdoor signs the best material is aluminum, because it does not rust and stays flat through temperature swings. Choose Dibond aluminum composite when a large panel has to stay dead flat, reflective sheeting on aluminum when the sign must be read in headlights, and stainless or powder-coated steel for a cut statement sign. Get Custom Metal Signs recommends keeping tin indoors or under cover.
Should I choose aluminum or Dibond for my sign?
Choose solid aluminum for small and mid-size signs that are drilled and screwed up — door plates, parking, rule and site signs. Choose Dibond (aluminum composite) for large storefront and fascia panels that must stay flat, and for signs cut to a custom outline. Get Custom Metal Signs prints both direct with UV ink and shows your design on either material in the free mockup. See the full aluminum vs. Dibond comparison.
What thickness of aluminum should I use for a sign?
Use .040 inch aluminum for signs under about three feet, and step up to .063 inch for larger signs, anything exposed to wind, or anything mounted low enough to get knocked — a thin panel that flexes on its fasteners will eventually oil-can. Get Custom Metal Signs prints aluminum business signs on both gauges and will recommend one from your size and location.
Will a metal sign rust outside?
An aluminum or Dibond sign will not rust, because aluminum has no iron to oxidize. Steel and tin do rust, usually from drilled holes and cut edges outward, so Get Custom Metal Signs specifies 304 stainless or powder-coated steel for exposed cut signs and keeps tin bar signs for indoor and covered outdoor use.
What size should a metal sign be to be read from a distance?
Size the letters first: the sign-trade rule of thumb is about one inch of capital letter height for every ten feet of reading distance, so a sign read from 30 feet needs roughly three-inch letters, then the panel is built around the text. Get Custom Metal Signs shows your sign at actual size on the free mockup before anything is made. Read the letter-height guide.
What is the difference between printed, engraved and laser-cut metal signs?
Printed signs carry full color and photos, UV-printed direct to aluminum or Dibond. Engraved signs cut through an anodized layer to bright metal for a crisp, traditional text look but cannot reproduce full color. Laser-cut signs cut the logo or lettering out of steel so it stands off the wall as an object. Get Custom Metal Signs makes all three and will suggest the right one for your artwork.
What artwork do I need to send for a custom metal sign?
Send whatever you have — a vector file is ideal, but a photo, PDF or even a picture of an old sign works. Get Custom Metal Signs redraws your logo as clean vector art for free and sends a mockup at actual size within 24 hours, with unlimited free revisions before anything is made.
What kind of metal sign is best for a bar, brewery or man cave?
For a bar, brewery, garage or game room, the classic choice is a vintage tin bar sign: embossed tin with a rolled safety edge in rectangle, round, oval, shield or bottle-cap shapes, printed clean, lightly distressed or fully weathered. Get Custom Metal Signs prints your own artwork on them; for a sign fully exposed to weather, choose aluminum instead.
Do I need reflective signs for a parking lot or job site?
If a sign has to be read at night or in headlights, use reflective sheeting: Get Custom Metal Signs builds reflective safety signs on rust-proof aluminum in engineer grade for yards, car parks and slow traffic, and high-intensity prismatic where vehicles move at speed or the sign is far from the light. Send any wording you are required to use and it is laid out in the standard header-and-pictogram format.
How do I mount a custom metal sign?
Decide before you order: Get Custom Metal Signs drills mounting holes free to your plan — corner holes, top holes or keyhole slots — and also supplies standoff barrels, cleat rails, Z-clips, flush tabs, hidden studs or adhesive backing depending on the product, so the sign arrives ready to install on a wall, fence, post, masonry or glass.
